The radio wave detection and strong helium emission lines reveal that supernova SN2020eyj was the result of a white dwarf exploding because it accreted too much matter from a companion helium star. Erik Kool from the Oskar Klein Centre and Stockholm University Astronomy Department is lead author on the paper.
