Dr. Sara Strandberg

The Göran Gustafsson Foundation for Research in Natural Sciences and Medicine gives prizes each year that support basic research in molecular biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics and medicine. This year OKC member Sara Strandberg, from the Stockholm University physics department, wins the physics prize for her "experimental research on supersymmetry and its potential connection to dark matter. By being responsible for detector systems and combining analysis work and methodology with new concepts for data evaluation, she has a leading role in a field where research is conducted in large collaborations." Dr. Strandberg is a member of the ATLAS experiment at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. She is an experimental particle physicist who searches for extensions to the standard model that we use to describe our Universe.
