Stockholm University intensifies the Baltic Sea research

In 2018, Stockholm University will start a new interdisciplinary Baltic Sea research network. About ten new research positions will strengthen the research at different departments of the University and form a interdisciplinary marine research team at  Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre.

This is a continuation of the Swedish Government's funding of strategic research areas (SFO) where Baltic Ecosystem Adaptive Management (BEAM) during 2010–2015 was one of Stockholm University's major research initiatives. After 2015, the University decided that the strategic funding should be used for further development of the marine research.

Continuation of the BEAM-programme

The Baltic Ecosystem Adaptive Management, BEAM (2010-2015), was part of the Government's strategic research areas (SFO). While waiting for the final decision on wheather the strategic funds for Baltic Sea research should become a permanent part of Stockholm University’s government grant, 2016 will be a interimistic year.

SFO-funding for Baltic Sea research

Stockholm University intensifies the strategic Baltic Sea research. Baltic Sea Fellows gathers young researchers at various departments of the University, in a joint marine interdisciplinary research team at the Baltic Sea Centre. This initiative is a development of the governmental funding of strategic research areas (SFO).
