An extreme paddle adventure

To raise awareness about microplastics in the Baltic Sea

The adventurers Oskar Kihlborg and Sören Kjellkvist have crossed the open sea between Gotland and Stockholm on SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards). It is one of the fastest growing water-sports in Sweden today and the distance has so far never been SUP-paddled before.

The adventure is co-organised together with Baltic Eye at the Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre. During the paddle, the adventurers have gathered microplastics for research analysis. The main goal is to raise awareness about the plastic-pollution in the Baltic Sea.

Adventurers arrived to Stockholm

The adventurers and microplastics paddlers Oskar Kihlborg and Sören Kjellkvist arrived to Nybrokajen in Stockholm on Sunday the 14th of June after 10 days at sea on their SUPs.

Take a stand for the Baltic Sea

On the fourth of June, the two Swedish adventurers Oskar Kihlborg and Sören Kjellkvist, have scheduled to start a two weeks long paddle adventure on the Baltic Sea. By collecting microplastics while paddling they want to raise awareness about problems connected to microplastics, especially the unnecessary plastic pollution by personal care products.
