Within this research area, cycling and transport of persistent organic pollutants and of radionuclides is studied and modelled. The models are being integrated in the Baltic Nest decision support system. Another focus is on the natural production of toxic substances by macroalgae, cyanobacteria and phytoplankton and how this influences ecosystem processes.
