The project aims at whether ikaite – a potentiall important mineral forming a carbon capture storage – is formed in the coastal waters around Alnö. The aim is to take advantage of the multibeam and sediment sampling capabilities of the research vessel R/V Electra to search for ikaite. Multibeam will be used to detect
- Morphological shapes (columns) characteristic of ikaite formation and
- Evidence of groundwater emission in the water column.
