The pilot study aims to map the underwater terminal moraines in the western Baltic. Sediment from the Younger Dryas is a significant layer of the many studied sediment structures, and is an important stratigraphic marker to connect many climate archives.

The terminal moraines indicating ice edge positions during the Dryas can be correlated across Sweden and further around the coast of Norway, and by large parts of Finland.
