Portions of ice sheets that terminate in, or are grounded in, marine environments are widely associated with fast ice flow (“ice streams”). They are known to be highly vulnerable to rapid collapse. This project will strategically sample sediments from a palaeo-ice stream pathway in the Bothnian Sea and assess:

  1. How the glacial substrate may govern contrasting ice flow regimes and
  2. The potential for building high-resolution retreat chronologies for the southern Fennoscandian Ice Sheet.
