The Baltic Sea Centre, formerly the Stockholm University Marine Research Centre, was responsible for the synthesis project with prof. Lena Kautsky as a project manager. The task force included eight experts from different organizations. The three-year project between 2010-2012 has so far resulted in a comprehensive synthesis report.

Currently, the work continues as we are coordinating a conference with the other synthesis projects, and publishing the results in a scientific article.

Effects of wind power on marine life

In March 2012 the synthesis report was completed. It summarized current knowledge about the effects of wind power on marine organisms and suggested measures to reduce impacts. The report focuses on environments in the North Sea, Baltic Sea and Gulf of Bothnia and the species that live within the depth range of interest for installing wind turbines.
