Project description

Subject: Physics.

The Division for Instrumentation Physics invites applicants for a PhD position in experimental nuclear physics. The nuclear physics group is involved in projects at the future major nuclear physics facility in Europe - FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research, The main project for the group has been the PANDA experiment ( which will use beams of antiprotons for the study of the strong interaction by creating hadrons with masses in the vicinty of the charmonium mesons. We are now also involved in one of the other major projects at FAIR, the NUSTAR project (, where e.g. nuclear structure is studied for nuclei far from stability. As a PhD student you will work mainly in the PANDA project, but some time could be devoted to work in NUSTAR.

We seek a self-motivated candidate with proficiency in English and a deep interest in subatomic physics and instrumentation.
