Project description

Subject: Theoretical Physics.

Several PhD openings are available for students to work with Dr. Katherine Freese on topics in astroparticle physics and cosmology including dark matter, dark energy, inflation, neutrino properties from cosmological data, and cosmic microwave background.

One position is specifically for students interested in the particle aspects of cosmology. Topics include: physics of the early Universe; the particle nature of dark matter; calculations relevant for dark matter searches in underground laboratories, space-based, and at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN; and dark stars.

Another position is for students interested in learning about the Universe through analysis and theory of cosmological data, including cosmic microwave background and large scale structure data. Topics of study include neutrino mass and other neutrino properties, as well as other cosmological parameters.
