Help and support

In the same corridor as the Student Office you can find the academic advisor. Here you can get answers to questions about our courses and programmes, registration, admission and prerequisites to courses or get information about exams and degrees. If you have fallen behind in your studies, you are welcome to discuss an individual study plan. You can also ask questions about the labour market after your studies. During the term, the academic advisor is available by telephone and during certain open reception hours. Information about the current reception times is posted on the door to the academic advisor office or on the contact page. You can also book an appointment, which is especially recommended if you travel far or want to meet outside the reception hours.

If you are studying a master programme, you can always turn to the programme coordinator. They will be able to answer questions regarding course selection, as well as more general questions regarding the structure and content of the programme.

The directors of studies for undergraduate education are responsible for issues concerning the education at the Department of Physics. Examples of issues that are handled by the directors of studies are the development of educational techniques and courses, deciding on teachers for each course, and ensuring that rules and guidelines are followed by both teachers and students.

The university has a Student Services Centre in the Studenthuset at the main campus Frescati. There you can get help with general career guidance, your university account, etc. You can also turn to the Student Services if you need to get in touch with the Student Health Service, want to apply for scholarships or participate in one of the language and study workshops, stress management courses and public speaking courses that Student Services organizes. If you feel that you want to improve your study technique, or develop your academic writing skills, you can contact the Academic Writing Service. The Academic Writing Service provides English-language support for writing and study skills. They give talks and seminars and offer individual guidance. Their services are available free of charge to all students at Stockholm University.

If you are unwell during your studies, it is not unusual to feel that the problems are at least partly due to your study situation. You can always turn to Student Health Services for advice on issues concerning your own health or life situation. Stockholm Student Health Services is a complement to the public healthcare available to residents in Sweden, and includes psychologists / psychotherapists and nurses. All visits are free of charge.
