Condensed Matter and Quantum Optics

The research of the division of Condensed Matter and Quantum Optics is both experimental and theoretical. The research focuses on the fundamental aspects of quantum phenomena in light and matter, and has several potential applications in quantum information technology, quantum electronics and nanotechnology. Theoretical work also span broader areas of physics.

PhD student in Resolution-unlimited quantum measurements

A PhD position is available in the Quantum Photonics group to conduct research related to resolution-unlimited measurement of the spatial separation of two emitters by detection and analysis of the spatial mode structure. Ref. No. SU FV-0350-20, closing date: 1 March 2020.

PhD student in Experimental Physics towards High-Pressure Calorimetry and

Studies of Electronic Properties of Quasicrystals at Low Temperature. Ref. No. SU FV-0349-20, closing date: 1 March 2020.

PhD student in three-dimensional topologically ordered phases

There is an open PhD position with start date in fall 2020 in the group of Maria Hermanns. The successful candidate is expected to study topologically ordered phases, focusing in particular on various aspects of three-dimensional systems. Ref. No. SU FV-0347-20, closing date: 1 March 2020.
