Field experiment on Askö Laboratory
The study investigated the effect of surface colour on settlement of macrofouling species. Plastic panels from food packaging were used and the most common colours of boat hulls were chosen: blue, black, red, white and transparent (controls). Then in-situ exposure at 1.5 m depth were performed for 21 days to evaluate the effects on Balanus sp. and Cerastoderma sp.
