The plan is to perform field studies during the maximum ice coverage (in February/March), during thawing period (in April) and after thawing in May. The measuring site selection depends on the ice and weather conditions. Conditions also confine whether the sites are reached by snow scooter or by boat. The field studies will include measurements on ice and snow properties, concentrations of optically active substances in both ice and water, and PAR irradiance above and under ice. This study will be linked to previous studies by Remote Sensing group at Stockholm University.
