Retreat chronology and margin stability of the Scandinavian Ice Sheet. The goal of this project is to determine the pattern, timing and rate of ice margin retreat in Sweden during deglaciation of the last ice sheet. This is achieved through high-resolution landform mapping (both terrestrial and marine), integrated with a large dataset of terrestrial and marine sites with annually laminated clay varves deposited in lake/marine basins immediately after deglaciation. This expedition (2020) will extend the new composite varve chronology (successfully built for southern Kalmarsund/Blekinge following expedition EL19-IGV02) northwards to tie up thus far unconnected terrestrial sites.
