Ice Cube: Neutrino telescope at the South Pole
IceCube is a detector for high-energy neutrinos. Construction of the detector started during the 2004/2005 season. In its final configuration the detector consists of about 5160 optical modules with photomultiplier tubes sunk into the ice at a depths between 1400 and 2400 m. The 86 strings of optical modules fill a volume of approximately one cubic kilometer.
