Medical Radiation Physics Division

The research of the divison is focused mainly on radiotherapy optimization, and several of the ongoing projects are linked to the racetrack microtron at the Karolinska Hospital, Department of Hospital Physics, and a planned facility for radiotherapy with light ions. There are also some ongoing research in the fields of nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging.

PhD student in Medical Radiation Physics

Cancer therapy using accelerated ions may deliver a more favourable dose distribution than conventional radiation therapy. Proton and heavier ions may reduce the risk of complications, but also enables dose escalation for improved tumour control. Ref. No. SU FV-0345-19, closing date: 3 March 2019.
